Lovely small oval terrine dish from SOUFFLENHEIM, an Alsatian village of potters, in the East of France renowned for centuries for culinary potteries.
Traditional for preparing the baeckeoffe, a meat and vegetable stew that cooks a low temperature in the oven.
The exterior is decorated with traditional hand painted flower pattern on a background of brown brush strokes. The pale yellow color of the interior is the natural shade of the clay found in the surroundings of Soufflenheim.
This small size terrine was probably used for decorative purpose.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. Does not seem been used.
